The square in Middelburg

It’s been so nice to eat things that don’t make me feel sick when I say the word like “pizza”, we are also caught up in the orange and red, white, and blue fever that has gripped this country because the Netherlands are in the World Cup which starts Thursday.  The Netherlands play their first game on Friday against Spain who beat them in the final last time (some background for Americans who know nothing about this sport and for good reason).  John wants Margaret and I to go out on Friday night to get a beer at one of the bars that most likely will have the game on.  Noticing the amount of face paint, boas, shirts, etc that is being sold in the country colors, I don’t think that we will  have to go far.  We lucked upon a concert in the square the other night with a  brass quartet playing great classical music.  It makes things easier to get in the thick of it when you can hear things out the window that are going on in the square.  We heard a brassinstrument and went to check it out.  We got to hear some Glass, Gershwin, and this quartet were great.  Again, just things going on in town all the time in the summer.
