Bruges with Michelangelo and canals

Friday morning and we’re up and at ‘em, going to the Church of
Our Lady to see Michelangelo as soon as it opens.  On the advice of the ex pat last night, we’re going to do a canal cruise as soon as they open at 10am.  So, we get into the church, which is being redone and hard to see much of the interior, but  they must feel bad about this because there is a discount on admission.
The statue of Mary and baby Jesus was beautiful and I asked John if he would know that it was a Michelangelo without being  told.  I don’t know that I would know, but we got some great pictures of it and you can decide for yourself if you would know.
You could at least see why one of the Monument's Men would have lost his life trying to save it from looting... From there we got on the canal tour and got a discount there because of my new favorite man, Rick Steves,
and this was awesome.  We have been on canals for a while in the Netherlands, but puttering through Bruges, seeing their beautiful bridges, cathedrals, and swans from the water was great.  I think if anyone comes here, just take
the canal trip over and over, that’s the best way to do Bruges.  We got to see “the dog” that is famous for hanging out his window for tourists to see.  The boat driver said that he was rescued from Hurricane Sandy?  But I’m not sure what
he is doing in Bruges then and why he’s in every movie and thing about Bruges….maybe Katrina?  Have to look that up I guess.  Sorry, in Bruges there is going to be a lot more pictures than writing
because this town just had so much to see.  I have to try to put it all in here so that you can get the full experience.
