play time and some more good food

Another ridiculously filled streetcar back into downtown area.  John got to sit this time, someone gave up their seat for him because he was holding Oscar.  Oscar again got a little frustrated with a hot, crowded, sitting requirement and again, I could sympathize.  We got back

to the hotel and had a short nap and then returned to the Riverwalk shops for more playing.  I would like to act like I’m super nice mom that takes my kid to a playground, forgoing things that I could be doing in New Orleans, but to make sure that no one believes
that about me, I have to confess that there was an ulterior motive for the shops.  When we were disembarking from the Natchez the day before, someone was coming on with balloons and a cookie cake for someone’s birthday.  The cake was from the Great American Cookie
Company.  Anyway who knows me from way back knows that I’m not going to pass up the chance to have a double doozie and while googling the company, found out that the store was in the Riverwalk shops.  So, a double doozie was had by mommy, while Oscar got to play and jump around, I got to
relive my childhood that included these things as often as I could make my way to the mall up the street and get them.  We went back to our old school technique of asking someone for a place to eat that they would recommend and got sent Fulton street with 7 choices of restaurant.  We chose Manning’s after looking at the menus and, yes, it is Archie Manning’s restaurant.  If John’s first father’s day gift was signed by the man, we might as well eat at his restaurant.  The catfish fingers appetizer was absolutely to die for and again, Oscar tried to eat the whole thing.  This was one of those times when you’re glad to see your kid branching out and eating new things, but want him to quit eating the things
that you want to eat.  I had crawfish mac
and cheese and John finally got a burger.  We had a great dinner and were able to cap off the night with some more pralines.  We did some preliminary packing this evening in order to figure out what was going to be checked, what needed to come on the plane with us and what we were running out of (baby food).  So, a CVS run was in order to have enough food to keep Oscar happy and quiet on the trip home.

  1. I wish there was somewhere in MI to get catfish! And I can totally relate to the double doozy obsession. That was my favorite part of going to the mall when I was younger.
