Ferris vs. St. Cloud State

We attended the alumni function which was in the basement of a
restaurant across the street from the arena and this gave us a taste for trying to take our stroller to places in Europe where space is at a premium.  We were able to get some food and give some to Oscar who then downed several packets of food too and then head over for the game.  Now, most of you don’t follow college hockey, so the chances of Ferris winning this game were nil.  They were
playing the number one seed and Ferris only got in because they won their WCHA tournament and the NCAA had to let them in.  They didn’t add in the top contenders in our league either which tells you the amount of respect the boys were getting in this game.    We were there for support and had done sight-seeing today because we knew that we would be driving home the next day at a  leisurely pace.
But then Ferris surprised everyone, including us most of all, by winning this game.  They went on an offensive tear in the second period when Oscar finally succumbed to the inevitable and fell asleep with a hockey game going on, in an arena with a  loud PA system, a pep band playing above him,
and screaming Ferris fans around him.  I’m surprised John’s arms didn’t fall off holding him through the period and a half that he slept.  We also got to stick our heads in the little kids things where  you get to be the player and I’m not sure how John got himself and held Oscar in a way that he

could stick his head through at the same time.  It was amazing, but after doing that one with daddy, Oscar got the hang of looking out of this cardboard and thinking it was cool as you can tell by the photos of just him in the set up.  We left the arena and hit a half priced bookstore not far away and it
started to rain a lot.  We stopped at a target and got some more food for Oscar because now I was looking at a middle of the night drive home the next day.  I didn’t expect that and didn’t plan ahead for it.  But you can’t leave Minnesota when your team has made it through to the next
round and is playing for a chance to go to Tampa and the Frozen Four.  We had dinner at the Outback near the hotel and decided it was time for bed pretty early in the evening.  Oscar was beat and the day with minimal napping came back to bite us on the ass because a couple of hours after
falling asleep like a champ.  He woke up screaming like the hounds of hell were after him and he wouldn’t stop.  You couldn’t hold him, rock him, nothing and I made John turn on the light because I expected to see blood coming out of every orifice from the pain he must be in to scream like this without letting up and realized that he was still asleep.  He was clearly still asleep and screaming like a banshee.  Luckily, Tara knew what it was, a night terror.  And when you research them, they start at this age and usually are brought on by a change in schedule with no napping and holding them makes it worse.  So, another thing to look forward to in Europe if I can’t get him to nap in the stroller or return to the hotel for naps or something like that.  I have a feeling that Oscar and I will have a room and John will be sharing with Rachel in order to get a good night’s sleep…
