missing Guernica

For dinner, we refreshed a little in the room and I decided that we

would go to El Corte Ingles which is the huge superstore across the street and eat in one of their two cafeterias.  This seemed like a good idea since we needed diapers and more baby food anyway, but this is truly a store that you can get lost in.  It has 9 floors and we found some diapers in the pharmacy part, but no baby food and found out that the market area is in the basement on the other side of the store.  So, we go up to the gourmet
food section that we were planning to eat at and while it has a great view of the city, it was hopping and intimidating with so many mini restaurants and hip Madrid people.  We figured people with a baby didn’t belong here and hightailed it to the other end of the store and the basement to find lots of packets of baby food that have protein and vitamins and were able to stock up for Oscar.  From the overview of the city, John
noticed a taco bell near the place and that was eating for tonite.  So, even though we like tapas and trying new things, I think we’re feeling a bit overwhelmed at times and there is something to be said for comfort food.  Now, the taco bell in Madrid makes everything different and also sells beer, so it was still a lot different from home.  We got to catch a bit of Flamenco in

the plaza because they were having a fundraiser and Oscar freaked out when he encountered a little girl that is pushy than him.  I usually have to watch him to keep him from tackling other kids, but this girl came right up to him and touched him and it upset him.  He started to cry and had to be held and consoled.  I guess it’s only fun when you are the one to initiate it.  It may have been

that he was overly tired because the next day, Oscar slept in a lot.  John and the students are off to some more museums and I’m planning on meeting them at the first one because Picasso’s Guernica is in there.  I have seen this painting before, but I was in high school and just remember thinking that it was weird.  Now that I know the history of the painting, I would like to see it again, but this is not to be.  The sleepy head child doesn’t want his donut on the way to the museum, we take our time strolling down back streets to get there, and then play with another little girl in the plaza in front of the museum in the hope that we can have another nap in there like yesterday, but I already see a couple of students outside and it’s almost time for the group to meet up and move on to the next museum.
