Just chillin'

Another lazy day in Eureka where we actually get to feel like we’re on vacation.  Except for John who is trying to figure out a way to
print and scan a letter of recommendation onto Ferris letter head and send it off.  He’s off to Kinko’s and Humboldt State University with Oscar, while I get to go downtown for a 90 minute Reiki session with essential oils from Kim.  This feels like pampering.  I would highly recommend getting friends to become things you need like massage therapists,
pedicurists, lawyers, doctors, because it makes it so much easier to ask questions and get answers.  I have been getting massages from the same woman for almost 10 years now and there is still always times when I wonder if I should shut up or tell Summer one more thing that I thought of.  With someone who is my friend first and therapist second, there is none of that.  I talked and asked questions and then shut up when it felt
like she needed to do some serious work.  Even I can figure that out….it was very relaxing and except for the buzzing in my brain (no shocker there) and some serious things from my heart where I have to get my aneurysm checked every year, there were no other pings that came her way.  So, maybe my body is in better shape than I thought and things flow pretty well.  But, of course, I’m vacation.  If Kim came to my office in the
middle of the day and felt my energy then, it would most likely be scary and black, dark stuff that oozes out.  Sad, but true.  But I work to live, not live to work.  That’s why I feel no qualms about taking this time off and leaving the office in the lurch.  I’ll make up the hours when I get back and that place operates fine without me.  Oscar refused to take a nap today,
so I told him that he would be going to bed early tonight.  We had an early dinner at Lost Coast Brewery so that I could keep that promise.  I had a nice apricot wheat beer on Kim’s recommendation and John got a 10 taste sampler.  Even he said that of the 10 beers he got, the apricot was the best.  We had a lot of food and Oscar spent most of the evening playing on the car video game that was set up by our table.  It kept him mainly
occupied and except for having to tell him to let other people play with it when they wanted to, it worked out as a babysitter.  Maybe I should get one in the house….James, Brenden and John decided to go see Guardians of the Galaxy 2 while we were at dinner and stuck Kim and I with Oscar and the check….obviously, mother’s day is over…..more sun and relaxing.  I have actually been crocheting up a storm.  I brought a skein of yarn and a hook with me for the flight and had to go buy clearance yarn here to have more of a project.  I was able to make
Kim a hat and cowl that match, another cowl with different colors and still have more things that I can make before I come home.  I forgot how much I like to crochet as a relaxing thing and for fun.  I have only recently gotten back in a rhythm with it after dropping everything to have a baby.  Of course there are times when Oscar thinks that he should be the one wielding the hook, but he loses interest fast.  Plus, I can watch him run around and work on the crocheting at the same time if a pattern is not too complicated.
