traffic in the middle of nowhere and other California rants

sorry, people there are no pictures for the playground and traffic or of inappropriate wearing of biking gear:  Oscar just yells “green go, green go, green go” at the traffic and can’t seem to understand that the rows of cars standing still on I-80 are not sitting at a red light.  I totally get his desire to want to go and don’t understand why I’m sitting in the middle of farmland with 8 lanes of traffic that is not moving.  I’m  65 miles from San Francisco and almost 20 outside of Sacramento and there are no wrecks.  How badly do these Californians need to put away their cars and get a rail system between their major cities?  Really badly.  We’re going to the Railroad museum tomorrow and Sacramento prides themselves on being the end of the continental railroad, someone needs to tell them that they need to get back into the train business.  We pick up John from UC Davis and head west to Vacaville because there is a chickfila.  I’m going to get that if I can and it happens to be mother – son, date Knight with roses and shields to color.  Oscar gets into the playscape and is hard to get back out of it.  But there’s big kids in there fighting with each other, rolling around on the floor and I just want my son out of there.  We drive around the town some and get back to the hotel at almost 10pm.  We have to start getting back on east coast time or I’m going to regret my first day back at work.  Oscar and John don’t have to go back to school for a while, so they’re getting off easy, but I’m not.  We are running out of things that we want to do.  I checked the information for Yosemite again and the Tioga road is still closed due to snow and there is a new alert for traffic in the park.  That sounds like nothing that I want to drive 2 hours out of the way to do, so we’re thinking that we’re going to hang around this area.  I also don’t have any desire to pack up and move again and we’re going to stay at this hotel for the last two nights if possible.  We both even thought that it would be nice to just go home after the conference, but it looks like it is impossible to change the flights.  The heat is sapping up and I have to add that the traffic doesn’t help.  Also, my final rant about the state of California.  I lived in the Netherlands for a month, those people ride bikes more than anyone in this state and I never saw a Dutchman or woman in spandex.  I don’t need to see your junk, you’re not Lance Armstrong and you’re not biking the Tour de France, so quit acting like this is appropriate gear to run around in.  Dutch people wear their clothes, because they’re going somewhere.  They’re actually using their bikes as transportation and you’re just using it as a medal of some sort.  I’m sick and tired of every town we’ve been in being overrun with people running around in advertisement covered shirts and too tight spandex pants with their ugly bodies hanging out of all the parts.  Why are speedos verboten around here, but this ridiculousness is not?  Stop!!!!!  Please??!!?!??!?!  My eyes beg you.
