Another day in Amsterdam on the doomed trip

The group has a full day at the museums today and Oscar and I are going to parks because it’s supposed to be warm and sunny all day.
Speaking of warm, there’s no AC in our room and I expect no AC when in Europe.  What I do want is a sheet.  I don’t know when the decree came down for every hotel in the world to have only one fitted sheet and then a white duvet covered down comforter on every bed in the world, but I hate this practice.  When it’s 74 degrees in a room, it’s way too hot for a down comforter, but I still need a sheet.  What happened to flat sheets?  I don’t understand.  We head down for breakfast and one of the students has not been feeling well for a  couple of days and it went from being something she might have eaten, to maybe a stomach flu

because she still doesn’t feel good.  But, no, John is destined to avoid large museums this trip because while the group is at the Rijksmuseum, he gets to take this student to the hospital.  He missed the Louvre too because of Oscar needing to go to the hospital.  Hopefully, that’s his last trip to the hospital on this trip.  Or for this year for that matter…Thankfully, it wasn’t her appendix which would have meant surgery in the Netherlands I would expect, but definitely more than flu.  What a bummer for
her.  None of the other students appeared to be missing at breakfast this morning which was a good thing with the talk that was swirling around things to do in Amsterdam.  Oscar and I beat the group out and headed out, but I forgot my map and went the wrong way to the market I wanted to go to.  I went to another hotel and got their map to return to the market via a park for Oscar.  Once we left the market with a warm stroopwaffel and delicious looking strawberries, I was able to take us back to the hotel in no time with the map.  Oscar has chosen a lazy day in the
hotel room playing with his cars, watching videos, reading books, playing with his tickets and money and I’m indulging him.  It’s hot out there, it’s Saturday in Amsterdam with some big parties going on apparently and I’m just getting updates from John at the hospital.  I’m making this an early night for me and Oscar to make up for all the late ones.  Also, John can then go out quietly and watch whatever huge soccer match is coming up that he is so geeked about.
