South Georgia

We hitch another ride to Marta for the full length of the red line that will take us all the way to
More presents for Oscar
Hartsfield to rent our car.  We make it in good time and the rental car agency charges $23 extra to rent the car 45 minutes before the 5pm pick up time that we had scheduled.  Getting into the traffic and heading south is the primary objective, so we pay it and get a brand new corolla with only 35 miles on it.  John mentioned that it was probably as close to driving a new car as he would ever get and that’s the truth.  We sit in dead stop traffic a couple of times on I-75, but still make it south in good time because Oscar finally gets so bored, he falls asleep in the back.  We stop at an exit that has something for everyone, we stop at Chick fil a for me, Taco Bell for Oscar and eat at the Krystal for John to have his guilty pleasure in the south.  We were on the road again and as soon as we got off I-75, there was no traffic on I-16.  We found our Air B n B in Tarrytown and the “rustic” part of the listing was accurate.  It’s a hunting cabin and has a dog shed and run outside of it so you have a place for your hunting dogs, but I’m pretty sure the people before us had their dogs inside as well.  The wood in the cabin was raw, so we were greeted with multiple allergens before

falling into bed and passing out.  Oscar was on the floor and John and I had two twins across the room from each other.  They’re not the most comfortable beds and when I leaned over to the bedside table, the whole mattress slid off with me hitting the ground with quite a thump.  Oscar and John came to investigate and the whole thing just seemed incredibly funny.  The next morning, Oscar woke up and asked why we were staying in a “stable”.  Out of the mouth of babes comes truth.  Our first Air B n B experience that doesn’t live up to expectations and it had to happen some time, and what can you expect for $30 a night?  We get to spend some time with John’s family and Oscar gets two chances to play at the playground down the street before we head back to the stable for another

night.  The trip takes a turn for the worse when John drives too fast down the backroads to the restaurant that we’re going to, misses his turn, then decides to go down a dirt track with his poor family following in the car behind him, then parks between two huge trucks so I ask him to move the car so that it doesn’t get dinged by the doors.  He proceeds to back out of the space right

into a car pulling in to the parking lot from a drive that didn’t look like one.  To be fair to John, no part of this place looked like a parking lot, it’s all sand, there are no lines and who would be expecting a car to be coming across the lawn part, but of course, it damaged the rental car some because the old man in the SUV just kept coming and didn’t honk or anything.  It kind of ruined the good vibe that was happening in the trip.
