John finally feels up to trying to see some things today, so
we grab
a bus midmorning and head in to town. We walk around downtown Bath seeing the Rugby stadium and there is a game today, so the town is covered in people in Blue and Black going to the game. We walk through the covered market, through downtown, over the river Avon and have lunch as the only people in the pub who are not locals and not going to the rugby game. We have a very expensive, boring lunch and I’m still not enamored of this choice to spend this much time in England. Damn the Schengen Zone in the EU!!! We finish lunch and walk through Bath Abbey. It’s an abbey and John’s a little disappointed after just being in Westminster. Oscar is of course unimpressed and so am I. John can’t understand why the whole town
of Bath counts as a UNESCO world heritage site. I like the Georgian homes made out of the local stone, but maybe you have to be here in summer to appreciate it. Their bus system is awful and they are never on time. Your bus can come
anywhere between 10 minutes early and 15 minutes late. That’s quite a window of time to be outside waiting in this horrible weather. I’m just going to stop there, because I have nothing good to say and aren’t you supposed to say nothing at that point? In other news, we have had to make our first online purchase of something I need that I can’t obtain across
the Atlantic. I need Glide dental floss of all things. I brought two of the small ones that you get at the dentist, but didn’t realize that these wouldn’t last me two months. And the few dental floss choices here shred in my teeth.
It’s horrific. It’s like a bird is trying to make a nest in my mouth with shredded, tangled strings coming out. At least Oscar finds it funny when it happens. At least I already have an Amazon UK account…
