Travelling to Bath

We have a travel day today, but not the usual because we aren’t
flying.  So, no getting there early to check in, no security lines, blah, blah, blah.  We spend the morning making sure we’ve got everything packed up from this place and having breakfast there to get rid of some groceries, take a taxi to Paddington station, because

the trains to Bath don’t come out of Victoria of course….have some lunch at a great little restaurant near the station called Garfunkels and find out our train is delayed.  Then they take our train when it comes and make it a direct to Bristol and
tell us to get on the next train and find a seat in cars G or J.  We were talking with a guy in the train station who said that the rail system was jacked up and he wasn’t lying.  We went from reserved seats on a train that should arrive at a certain time to a new train that’s 30
minutes after we should have left and fighting for seats.  Oh well.  Still a hell of a lot quicker than an getting on a plane.  We get to see some of the flooding from the train and it’s worse the further out of town that you go.  We get in to Bath with no plan but to take a

taxi to our new place which is 2 miles out of town center.  I’m not thrilled about this now that John’s knee is not doing well.  But when we get to see our “studio” attached to Cranleigh, we can make it work.  So spacious compared to where we just were and a so many little touches that make it feel like
you could live there.  We head down the street to a grocery to grab supplies.  We brought our bag, but should have brought two because a family of 3 in a grocery store when they’re hungry adds up fast.  We hit the pharmacy too because John is getting a cold on top of his knee problems, we’re going to lay up
in our new place that we like so much.  So, nothing really to report for the next day, because we don’t go anywhere except back to the grocery and pharmacy for more supplies and drugs for John.  Oscar and I thought about going in to town to take the free walking tour without John, but the bus that
we looked at taking comes every hour and we didn’t want to wait for 45 minutes….we could have gone to another bus stop, but I couldn’t be bothered.  It’s raining, of course, and I can see my breath in the air.  So, I don’t want to do a walking tour in this anyway.  I’m starting to think we should have spent more time in Turkey or we could have gone to Tunisia after Turkey.   Anywhere that could have given us more sun and more heat would be preferable….
