Travelling to Edinburgh

Travel day to Edinburgh is pretty easy, Oscar just likes to watch the
trains come and go around the station, so we could stay there for hours and he would be happy.  Our train ride to Edinburgh is very pleasant and we have a couple of regulars near us on the train that are laughing and amazed at our delight in seeing the North Sea from the train, seeing Berwick,
wondering when we’ve crossed into Scotland.  You can tell that they’ve been taking this trip for granted for a long time and seeing it differently with us snapping pictures and talking about everything we pass.  We have some time before we can check in to our Air BnB, so we
take our cases to Brewhemia right outside of Waverly Station.  John gets two flights of beers (their only 3 tasters each) and we have great food and drinks.  Oscar eats all of his waffles because their serving brunch too.  So, the Edinburgh stop is already off to a good
start.  We get a taxi to the Air BnB and the taxi driver doesn’t want to leave us again, because it doesn’t look like a place to stay, he thinks it’s a business, but it’s our place.  We finally get in and get situated and find out that there is no internet.  John is way more worried about this than me, I don’t have any clients scheduled and could care less if we’re off line for the most part, but John needs to be doing some research and finding out things for the paper, I need to plan what we’re going to see.  There is not a lot of insulation with the door and we’re on a busy street.  It reminds me of Malta when we were above the bars and that came out okay, so have to have faith that this one will work out.  I go to the store down the street to get some groceries and hit the store when every student at Edinburgh University has gotten out of class to come to the shop too…..there are 20 self check outs that only accept your card, which are the tap ones and only 2 that take cash.  The line snakes down one aisle and all the way to the back of the next aisle…..it’s amazing, but it goes fast if you can believe it.  I can see that eventually cash money will be nonexistent.  Everything in my pocket now will probably be collectible one day….
