Off the Ohio turnpike, finally, and off the Pennsylvania turnpike, FINALLY, we were able to eat at a Waffle House and stay in West Virginia. John has never been to West Virginia, so this was a must, but you have to say "West By God Virginia" in my car. Great stay in a Comfort Inn that was rather charming for a chain hotel.
As we hit traffic coming out of Baltimore at 4pm, I am amazed that I ever survived living in a city and find myself wondering why and how people would choose to live like this. I have gotten so used to 12 miles equaling 12 minutes in drive time, that I just don’t even know how people stand to sit in stop and go (mainly stop) traffic. We were able to make it to Delaware and they did us the favor of letting us know that we should buy stuff because there are no sales tax in Delaware. SCORE!!! We checked into the Embassy Suites where John and Rachel had booked us and I had given them a hard time for setting us up in such an expensive hotel. But, it’s not as expensive
as the others and it is beautiful with complimentary drinks and snacks (with booze) every day and a suite that we could have used in Indianapolis with all of those people we had there. So, I need to shut my mouth and let hotwire do the work, obviously. Exhausted, I am totally exhausted. Too bad there isn’t a slow boat to Delaware like there was a cruise ship to Europe…Take-out Chinese food, Rachel and John perfecting their papers, and an early night are the order of the day.
