We’re driving and driving and driving….
Leaving Michigan was lots of fun because the weather
they hadn’t cleared the roads in Canadian Lakes, but we were clear to Mt.
Pleasant and down until Lansing. Don’t
get me wrong, there were still cars off the road and stuff, but until Lansing
and the
blowing snow that was re-icing on the road things didn’t feel treacherous. It was white-knuckled driving down to Indiana for me as John was still grading essays on finals, calculating final grades, and needed to post them when we got to a hotel for the night. At one point, I didn’t think that we would make it to Indianapolis that night, but theweather got much better once in Indiana to the point that we were able to stop in Fort Wayne for the first stop at a Half Price book store. We have enough books, but always have to check them out in case, besides there were some book club books that we needed to get. Coming in to Indy, we were able to get a couple more stops in, a good meal at Longhorn where John again got lobster after just having it at Tulleymore two nights ago. I don’t know who this guy is, the one that only ate grilled cheese and french fries when I married him?!!!? We had one of those moments where I realized that the price that we paid for our hotel was the same as our meal. It’s amazing what high end tastes like John’s cost these days when you add in alcohol.
Nice stay as a LaQuinta and then on the road again
once John had his grades done. We gave
the road commission some time to clear the roads and didn’t start too early
because Indy got a couple of inches in the night that was not cold enough to
blow right off the roads. We were able
to take a small detour on our way into Louisville to see the Ohio Falls, which
is where they have dammed some of the river to regulate the flow, but
impressive none the less. This was a
hard day because it seemed like we went the wrong way every time we had to make
a decision. I mean, like turning out of
the hotel and picking east on the beltline, but the exit was one west of where
we were. Stupid things like that. Or getting too involved in the audio book we
were listening to and missing our exit for the 6pm outlet. Shoes should take precedence even if the book
was discussing a moving scene of the death of Socrates. The 6pm outlet has lost a lot of its magic
since we have the wolverine outlet in Rockford…We decided that we needed to
make it to Manchester, TN for the night and then a short drive to the Unclaimed
Baggage Center the next day to start off a nice, leisurely drive to
Florida.
