Now, this is our first 4
star cruise and we didn’t know what to expect taking a different cruise
line. So,
my impressions in the first two sea days—the staff are accommodating, but not present in any way. We are used to getting to know our cabin steward, our waiter, and other staff that we interact with on a daily basis, but maybe 4 star service means that you never see them. We haven’t seen our cabin steward once since setting sail, but the room is always clean and we have never been interrupted
by housekeeping. The boat itself has
more brass, wood, better art in the stairwells, prettier decorations, so that
makes sense, but I have to say that otherwise, I’m not impressed. The food is good, but the food is good on
other ships. The shows are not better
and we have been way better entertained on Carnival cruises in the past. The only real thing that I can focus on as
way better is the lack of hard sell. If
we say that we don’t want something or that we don’t want our picture taken,
it’s not. I don’t miss that and they’re
way more subtle about getting you to buy things. That I like.
Maybe we just have low tastes…not sure and it only makes me want to try
more cruise lines to see how they all differ.
John did want me to mention that Princess does have the most perfect ice
cubes that they put in our fridge for pouring over his scotch. I do have to say
that not having to account for my beach towel is a plus, but even tea time is
better on Carnival. and I get animal towels and dancing, singing wait staff...
