Rijks museum good parts

Now, on to the great works that they did have.  The Nightwatch by Rembrandt had a ton of people around it as did the whole gallery of “honor”.  There were some other works that were very interesting though and the most arresting was a very ugly Venus that was a copy of
the Venus of Urbino by Titian.  If only I could show them side by side.  I guess I could copy something from the internet, but that’s cheating.  After just having seen the Titian, this version was awful because the Venus was so ugly compared to the first.  It was nice to see some
secular art though and we thoroughly enjoyed this day at the museum, but I couldn’t finish it because I hit a wall.  We left out the Asian Pavilion and boat model part of this one and headed back to the hotel to gather laundry and get clean clothes before the cruise.  This
turned out to be harder than we thought.  It was raining, the concierge got the map wrong and John was thoroughly soaked by the time we got to the laundry.  We were able to start the laundry and go eat something and I sent John back to the hotel to take a hot shower while the clothes dried.  It was
easy to get back to the hotel once you knew where you were going and we had another early night spending time perfecting how to get to the cruise ship, catching up on stuff, etc.  I’m always antsy about missing the boat when we cruise and John is good enough to give in to this neuroticism.
