driving, driving, driving

A full day of driving and I-75 is crowded already and it’s several days before Christmas.  I can’t imagine how bad it’s going to be by the time we get to Atlanta.  We’re listening to a Lee Child book on CD (thanks Sheila) and John is super into it.  He keeps asking, “more book?” while I’m trying to feed Oscar in the back seat and can’t hear anything because he’s hooked.  It makes me
realize that he very rarely reads for fun, dry philosophy texts are really not page turners….Oscar has started to cry today when we put him in the car seat.  Getting in the car used to be an adventure for him, but he’s already tired of it and he doesn’t realize that we have another day.  We did stop in Kentucky  and crawl around in the artist welcome
center which was fun for him and expended some energy.  He gets cranky when it’s time for a nap, but he’s no match for the rocking of the car and is probably sleeping too much in the car to sleep tonite.  It gets dark so early and we’re stopping for dinner before we get that far, but we’re in the drive thru for so long that I let Oscar out of his seat.  Great pictures of him rubbing his head on the car roof and getting static electricity to hold his comb-over up to the roof.  Maybe the CPS worker who shows up because someone calls because the kid is not in his car seat will find that worth not making a report on us… we were able to make it past Knoxville before stopping for the night and you have never seen a kid so happy to be in a crappy motel room where he can crawl back and forth, open drawers and sit, kicking in the bath tub for probably about an hour….he was like a prune when I got him out.

  1. Oh, now you'll get arrested twice. Once for having him out of his car seat and, once for child porn. Bad, bad parents.
