Costa Maya, Mexico

We dock in Costa Maya which is a new stop for us and we are at breakfast (I bring John a very small bit of rice krispies) and he's still not feeling great, but is going to try to do our excursion to Mayan ruins here.  We get out in good time to make it to the tour office which is offsite, but it's raining when we come out and I run back to get our coats and
can't find mine and John's, get Oscar's, but in that time, another boat has started to dock next to us.  We are not allowed to leave the pier until they have docked and this is a slow process if you have ever seen this happen.  So, we can't get to the tour place, we're now late for our tour and
I'm getting very irritated the longer that it is taking.  When they finally release us, I'm in hurry up mode and lead the charge, but apparently I'm moving too fast for John who is still sick and the Schillims who are toting little kids with them.  I have told them that we go to the
pyramid, but this is Mayan territory and you have to exit the port area with pyramids in it to get to our tour place.  So, while I look back to John to tell him I'm exiting the port, once I do, he loses me in all the buses and stuff back here.  They mill around trying to figure out
where to go and I get almost to the tour place before I realize that they are not coming at all behind me.  So, I walk back 4 blocks with the stroller to find them and I'm dripping sweat like no one's business.  A taxi guy says that my husband is looking for me and I finally find them to point out the pyramid that we're walking toward.  We finally get there and the tour situation is a
mess because while everyone was supposed to come in waves, because of the closing of the pier, the Royal Caribbean, NCL, and Regent cruise passengers have all gotten there at the same time for multiple different tours.  So, they put our bracelets on us and
put us in a van, but then decide that we're going in a different one.  I've completely lost my mind at this point because I'm exhausted and things aren't going well, Oscar is unhappy probably because I'm grumpy and my sick husband is the punching bag for my anger
because he couldn't keep up with me.  So, it's starting out bad and then we get in the new van to Julie sitting in a puddle and getting her shorts soaking wet.  We at least find out that is the AC unit leaking, so at least it's just water, but we pick all the other seats around there and let the other family going with
us sit on the plastic bags that keeps the water off them.  So, this is starting out to be a bust of a tour also and the tour guide gives us a little information, some candy and Oscar is still not a happy camper on the one hour long drive out to the ruins.  He throws a temper tantrum when I hand gum around to everyone and let Oscar lick a piece.  He bites some off and I tell him that he can keep it if he chews it, but he swallows it of course and then gets angry when I don't give him the rest of the piece.  So, it's a full blown fit with him trying to pinch my cheek and scratching me because he is angry with screaming and crying as if he's being tortured.  Which I'm sure is great for everyone in a small van.  The good thing is that the Schillims know him and know what kids are like, the other family has an overtalkative 8 year old that doesn't shut up for the entire one hour drive.  I can hear him talking even over Oscar's screaming, so I'm thinking it wasn't as painful for everyone else as it was for me.  John is sitting in a daze in the seat next to us and he's really useless at this point.  So, we're not off to a good start.
