My little Traveler

We finally make it back to Bruges and I have to say that the group
getting back from Ghent aren’t very far behind us. We try to hit a pub that has 400 beers available, but are told that without a reservation, we won’t be getting in there.  So, we hit a burger joint that looks really good across the street.  And Oscar is still refraining from trying much on this trip, or eating the things that he normally eats.  He just wants “my favorite breakfast bar” from home, which they don’t have here.  He has moved to accepting Bel Vita breakfast bars and that is all that he has eaten with the exception of milk, candy and juice.  We take them with us everywhere and he will eat that at the table while everyone else chows down on good food.  He has nibbled at a Belgian waffle and ate about 4 fries on this evening, but I will give the kid this, he has sat quietly for the most part through most of these European dinners

(where you’re lucky to get out in under 2 hours from start to finish), without wifi and only the students, traffic and adult discussion to distract him.  He’s up way past his bedtime every night and probably up too early in the morning, but he has been cheerful and happy throughout it all.  Even with losing puppy, he says he wants him back, wants to go home
and get his puppy there, but has made it without his most cherished comfort animal.  He’s been demanding at times, but they are rare and quickly dealt with and John and I are the spoiled ones I think, because most 3 year olds would be bonkers by this time.  He’s ready to go home though because when we were playing in the hotel room the other day, I was having to hand him money for my bus, train, then plane tickets home to Michigan.  These were complicated transactions where I had to give him euros, he had each different ticket that we’ve accumulated laid out and then we had to complete that journey before starting the next step.  So, I think that the kid could get home without me and John at this point.
