Sistine Chapel exhibition in St. Louis

We return to St. Louis for Sunday in order to go to the Grant National Historic Site and get

another National Parks passport stamp.  We are the only ones there it feels like and Oscar has to take the pledge with the ranger in order to get his junior ranger badge for the National Parks.  We didn’t do this at Gateway Arch, but this was fun in that he got to interact one on one with a ranger.  We had a good time and went from there to the
America’s Center where the Sistine Chapel exhibit was going on.  I found out that it was here in St. Louis by accident and decided that Oscar would have to put up with one art thing for the trip.  There were temperature checks, masks required and a huge room where the reproduction with high resolution photos was set up.  Because the tickets were timed, they were able to control the flow of traffic in this huge room to maybe 30 people at a time.  Again, with masks, social distancing and the huge space, I felt pretty safe and seeing these images in such detail was amazing.  So many things that I never noticed in the Sistine Chapel pictures or in situ were apparent in these photos.  And we
got to just take our time and ogle them as long as we wanted.  We were there for under an hour, but it was worth the time just to see Michelangelo’s work so closely.  Home to Litchfield again and another day of spending the time in the house tomorrow for work and school.  We have found a place down the street named Jublet’s and order on the
computer, go pick it up and have good food immediately.  I’m enjoying the break from cooking on top of everything else.  I didn’t realize how many meals I have been shopping for, planning, cooking and cleaning up after when we’re all home most of the time.  It’s exhausting when you think about it.
This stop at Grant's homestead was such a great one.  It was hard to get to, but so worth it and had a lot of history to it.  It reminded me of seeing Monticello or Mt. Vernon in that you learned so much just walking around.  Plus, the Budweiser Clydesdales were right next door....so, got to see them as we drove by.
