The next morning after a good night’s sleep, I bring breakfast up from downstairs in the lobby because Oscar and John sleep throughout the morning. Julie has researched Zoo Miami to make a trip there our Christmas presents and we decide that it’s a beautiful day for a trip to the
zoo. We have a learning curve in driving in Miami while trying to avoid toll roads. The last thing I want to do to Jorge is leave him with tons of tolls to pay after I’m gone. This car seats all of us comfortably, but it’s interesting the way that sound travels through it. Trying to hear directions, avoid tolls and not
wreck someone else’s car while kids are talking, singing, arguing is harrowing at times. I’m also the mom that usually only has one kid in the car, so that probably makes a big difference. We get to the zoo and thoroughly enjoy the entire day there. We fed giraffes, walked through every enclosure
in the whole place, had dipping dots and lunch here. It’s a beautiful zoo and we know that it’s snowing at home right now. So, walking around in shorts and t-shirts and having to put on sunscreen several times a day is going to go away soon. We’re soaking up everything we can do outside while we can. After the
obligatory stuffed animal for each kid (thanks Julie and Dave), we head back to the hotel. We rest for a while, then head down to try to eat at some of the places right by the hotel. There’s an awesome looking wine bar and brewery right there with great reviews, but they’re
not very kid friendly, and don’t have the best outdoor spaces. Everyone in Florida is still eating in restaurants….why, when you can eat outside and not have the worry? I don’t get it. We walk over to Dave’s Bar B Q because there are big picnic tables outside, we can all fit and Oscar can watch planes landing at Miami airport. Great
barbecue and we get to see a guy go through the parking lot on his custom jetski motorcycle…..that was a treat.
