Pisa

We got to sleep late again and catch a train to Pisa.  It was a fast trip and a little bit of a walk straight to the leaning tower.  John had bought the tickets to this site himself as part of the scholarship he was going to give a philosophy minor if they came, so the kids got admission to all  the parts of Field of Miracles on the house.  We tried something different today at the request of the students.  I designed a
scavenger hunt for things to find in Pisa and we made teams of 3 to get everything on the list.  This did not work out so well.  We had an hour before going up the leaning tower because that climb is scheduled and they were done with the entire thing by then while Rachel, John and I had only done the cathedral.
Rachel had never been to Pisa and John and I love it there, so we took our time, but the students rushed through it to the point that I don’t think a scavenger hunt will be done again on a foreign study.  Once they realized that they had 3 hours left in the city, they tried
to go back in the venues to see more stuff and the guards obliged them some times.  We went back to the Campo Santo which I love and then were able to be in the Baptistery when the guards did the echo demonstration.  This is only on video and I’m not sure if blogger
will upload it, but you have to be a great singer apparently to be a guard here.  It was a stunning display as one man sounded like an entire choir and you could understand why people would get carried away by the holy spirit.  I came away with tears in my eyes.  It was a fitting end to a great day in Pisa.  This place never disappoints.
