We have to say goodbye to Michael and Scott because one’s
going
to the lake and one’s going back to work, but we get to see the girls some more and get a little shopping done in Scranton. I wish that there was something good I could say about this place, but there really isn’t. There are no pictures of Scranton in the file, just family which is as it should be. We are getting some swim diapers for Oscar because the plan is to swim with the girls tomorrow because it is warm and Oscar loves being in the water, but this plan gets thwarted by there being somewhere in the world where water is colder than in a Michigan lake. A shady backyard in Pennsylvania is just as effective as sub zero temperatures apparently. Oscar starts to cry the second you dip him into it and has this push-pull relationship with it. He wants to get in so badly, but he doesn’t want it at the same time. A warm bath that night makes him feel better about water again, but at least we have swim diapers for when we get home and Katherine got a few underwater pictures of him before we called it quits. While Scranton and the surrounding areas might not be much to write home about, getting to see our nieces and nephew and remember them when they were Oscar’s age while they are now graduating from college, graduating from high school and about to graduate from high school reminds us how fast this journey with him is going to go. So, even if he fusses all night because he bonked his nose on the hardwood floors and it’s swollen and painful, we’re going to try to enjoy it. The kids liked playing with him and he liked having so many people to smile at him, hold him and play with him.
