getting home to snow

Monday dawns and it’s time to head home to Michigan.  We planned on taking longer for the drive back than the drive down, but it helps that we are 7 hours closer to home than when we were in Tampa.  We hit our usual shopping joints, but this year is slim pickings at Unclaimed Baggage and Hamricks, which is a good thing because we don’t have room for
anything anyway.  Had to stop at a Walgreens in Fort Oglethorpe, GA to get some more of my medications because apparently I didn’t count one out good enough and have run out, but the good thing about these chains is that you can just walk in and get a refill because everything is on file with them.   Another book on CD and John keeps falling asleep during this one because he
finds it confusing and unbelievable, like Jack Reacher books are believable….we were able to make it to the top of Tennessee and stopped for the night because Oscar had to get out of the car and move.  I felt sorry for anyone underneath us in the hotel because the boy just kept crawling back and forth in the room in a frenzied way that was loud and full of excess energy.
He did sleep good and we were able to get a good start by 8:30 the next morning and hit the 6pm outlet in Kentucky when we found it.  Only 3 pairs of shoes, one for John and two for me and then we decided with a 3 hour nap that got us through Indianapolis to stop at Meijer for some exercise and some snacks…Oscar walked along with the cart and got some energy out
and was able to get out again at the Half Price Book store in Fort Wayne.  Then he and John fell asleep again with the book on CD playing and we crossed into Michigan.  At this point, I’m like a horse that knows it’s heading back to the barn and unless we hit a blizzard in Lansing, I’m getting home tonite.  It was dark while we were still in Fort Wayne, but it’s winter up north, so it was only 5pm in the afternoon.  We made it

home by 9:30 at night and while this meant that Oscar stayed up until 11pm playing the cat, his toys, and even wanting in his crib to check out that everything was the same, we got to sleep in our own beds tonite and I think even Oscar appreciated that…I’ll let the pictures of him in the car speak   for themselves with his doggie covered in food that he wipes off on him while eating in the car.  The fact that within seconds of being home my Tupperware drawer was empty was a small price to pay for being back home after such a long trip.
