I did get to leave the Bean for a
short time to go to visit college
friends in Atlanta on Saturday. We have not gotten together for some time and Silvia was coming from Jacksonville, Hope from Greenville and we were meeting at Laurie’s house in Atlanta. We were able to get out and have some lunch at Napoleon’s CafĂ©, which was odd because even though they had a big picture of Napoleon in there, the food seemed more Latin in taste than French or Sicilian or Corsican or anything that could be associated with Napoleon. In fact, we all made fun of Napoleon’s Bowl, which was a collection of chilis, black beans, etc that didn’t seem like a bowl of stuff that Napoleon would ever have eaten. I did get to try a good draft beer from Allagash brewing in Maine that was a nice White beer. The food was good, but spicy, but everyone knows that I’m a spice wimp and Hope
complained that hers wasn’t spicy enough. It was good to catch up with everyone because while they might be on facebook with John, I don’t go on there enough to keep up with what is going in everyone’s life. Hopefully, we can all get back together next year for the 20th class reunion at Furman. I can’t believe that 20 years have passed since I graduated college, what am I doing with a one year old child this late in life? I did miss the huge tree that was leaning being cut down in Kevin and Lori’s back yard to see my friends, but John got plenty of pictures of that. I got back to Kevin and Lori's in time for pizza and to catch the Bean picking out his first tune on the piano. I don't think that we're looking at a child prodigy here in music, but he does get really excited when his actions cause sounds. His new xylophone and drum for Christmas should be big hits when we get home now.....
