South Georgia, Glenwood to be exact

Well, no one had to take any Dramamine last night or this morning,
so this is an improvement.  Some of John’s family are coming today and some more tomorrow for Nett’s birthday.  Today, we get to spend time with Uncle Joe and Aunt Mary Lee, Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Dannie.  Now, you have to understand that this is southern
family, so the only actual aunt and uncle is Cheryl and Dannie who are John’s aunt and uncle, but everyone else in a family who would normally be thought of as second cousins or whatever the true tree branch is, becomes more aunts and uncles.  Oscar loves Uncle Joe,
he gets him to read him his Bubble Guppies book, he gets to drive Uncle Joe’s HUGE truck and wear his fire helmet which is a real one that weighs most likely 20 lbs.  Oscar’s neck wobbles, but he won’t take it off.  At least he never found of the several guns that I’m sure are stashed in this truck while he and Uncle Joe were off “driving”.  And because it’s south Georgia, Oscar was really allowed to sit in Joe’s lap and drive the truck,
we like to start ‘em early down here.  Yes, that’s right, no car seat people.  Where are the drunk guys from Bonaire to call CPS now?  We all walk to Dollar General, which is like the only store in this one stop sign (maybe it’s a light) town.  The Christmas candy is on sale and we somehow turn a 10
minute walk into a hour long perusal of all the candy, toys, things available in this store.  I always forget how time slows in the south in a way that is very difficult to explain.  The hardest parts of the day are meal times because decisions have to be made and everyone has to fight to pick up the bill.  We let
Uncle Joe get lunch and I give in gracefully and accept his money because I have plans for dinner that don’t include him getting the check.  According to the scale at Nett’s, I lost weight on the cruise, but I’m going to gain it back and then some while we’re stationed in Georgia.  Sweet tea alone will take up my daily allotment of calories….
