Oklahoma and the Fort Worth Stockyards

We headed through Tulsa and down to Ada where my sister lives.  Oscar had to get used to

their dogs again (one is as big as a horse) and we got to catch up some with masks and social distancing throughout the time we spent there.  It was strange at times, but I think we did a good job of it and felt good that there were only 5 of us interacting, spending time mainly outside, and even having Thanksgiving dinner socially distanced because of all the leaves in the
table. I went from being scared to have left the house to grateful we weren’t still in Michigan as we watched the numbers go up exponentially while we’ve been gone.  When Michigan has 217,000 active cases and Oklahoma has 33,000, I feel like we made a good choice.  We got to talk a lot and catch up, have fun and Oscar watched Home Alone

for the first time in his life which he thought was hysterical.  He also got to see some American Football since he thinks that football is soccer.  We get to see the amazing Christmas displays that they have in this tiny town.  Individual houses will put up lights that dance to music and tell you what channel to tune to on the radio….really, that’s impressive.

We left Ada on Sunday and went through Fort Worth in order to see them drive the longhorns down the street and the gunfight

that they have on weekends.  While Oscar was game to get up on a longhorn and take a picture and watch the huge animals come down the street, he was not game for the hokey gunfight.  As soon as they fired one gun in the air in the introduction, that was it.  It was too loud and too scary, so we took the chance to get out before the others and get back on the road on our way to Midland, Texas where I was born.
