The Thirsty Turtle South Bimini, Bahamas

The night before we left, we decided to have a last night of

pizza from the thirsty turtle and we sent Dave and John to get it even though that was probably a mistake.  It turned out it wasn’t, but we continued to get weird texts from them because John was having a drink in the bar, playing pool with a 5 year old (not one of
ours) and said that Dave was in the kitchen making the pizza.  Julie and I were talking about how much they had to drink before they left, but no, 2 hours later when they came home we find out that Dave really did make the pizza.
The pizza dough person wasn’t in yet and so, Dave offered to google how to make dough and did so.  He made enough dough for the restaurant to make multiple pizzas, so ours were on the house and John’s drinks were bought too.  So,  Dave
effectively worked for our dinner that night.  Can you imagine someone being let into a kitchen in the US at a restaurant to make their own food from a recipe from google?  Would never happen, but anything is possible in the Bahamas

apparently.   We got laundry done and started packing up.  There was actually much less to pack now that we had gone through all of our food supplies.  Recycling was taken out, trash was taken out and the place looked almost sparse with all of our things put away again.  We had the brilliant idea of Dave and I getting
a taxi with the bags while the others walked down to the ferry, but it took forever to get the taxi to the back gate and Dave ended up having to walk to the front office anyway.  We did finally make it to the dock to meet back up with our

families.  Took our last ride on the pontoon boat to catch a taxi that was finally big enough for all of us to the Hilton.  We’re able to drop the bags and wait for the casino to open where we can have lunch.  A little bit of shopping in the Hilton with a couple of
souvenirs that are the only ones that say Bimini on them.  Now we have shot glasses with reindeer and Bimini on them!!!   We are the first people to get seated when the casino opens and after ordering, we have to go try to
win something.  I always have the belief that only assholes who are already living a life in paradise would ever win the lottery, so I always buy a ticket when we’re somewhere
amazing.  It hasn’t worked so far, but when you hear of the next millionaire lottery winner that was on vacation in the Virgin Islands when they won….it will be me.  John had to play roulette and actually hit his number on the first

spin.  So, we walked away with only one more spin after that $100 richer and with good food arriving at the table.  Julie and I went to try the slots and she ended up turning her $5 to $25, but I just lost $20….we can’t all be winners people and guess who the loser is?
