Downtown Indianapolis

Every morning of our 4 night stay in our hotel, we took over the dining room and you could hear laughter all the way down the halls of the hotel from our loud, raucous group.  We headed down town to see some of the sights and started with the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors monument.  It is a beautiful fountain with bronze sculptures and depictions of battlefields on it.  You can climb the monument, but it was closed due to a private event that was going on there.  Christchurch was across the street from it, but it was having something going on, which was probably the wedding that was the private event.  We walked to the capitol and around it to see all the statues.  We weren’t able to go in because it was a Sunday.  We decided to check out the Scottish Rite Cathedral that we could see in the distance and figured it would be open because it’s a Sunday.  But  they had a private event and the guard wouldn’t even let us get a peek while they were setting up.  There was a theme to this day in Indy and it was that you need to make a reservation to go and see any of the historical sites in Indianapolis.

We headed out to the international market so Dave could get a fix of exotic spices which we expect to get some of when he cooks for us.  We headed to a recommended chinese restaurant that served family style, Szechwan Garden, that had fabulous food.  They don't have a website that I could find, but I would definitely go there again...We had to say "bye" to Nate and Kate because they were going back to Detroit after more qualifying while we were going elsewhere.  And what a pleasant surprise that was... how's that for a cliffhanger?
