the foreign study to Italy if it goes. So, as you can see by the pictures, the trip to the museum was not a total wash, plus it was fun to stand there with John with our hands over our eyes to make them adjust to darkness to see what we could of the fresco that
sat in darkness. Again, your travel partner makes all the difference in the world.
We did get to see a great Monet of ice on the river Seine in a particularly bad winter which seemed like a very appropriate Monet painting to reside in Michigan. There was also an interactive part of the museum with someone typing up things that were happening in the museum that got projected up on a screen. We were on there several times because of how closely we were looking at
paintings and, of course, because John took a picture of the screen when are actions were up there. I loved the still life that we saw, a different view of Judith
and Holofernes, and an actual work of art that was saved by the Monuments
Men. This bust of the Saints George and
Jerome was part of the
Rothschild collection that was looted and recovered. It was bought from the family by the University and after just seeing the movie, I thought that this was pretty cool.
We were able to get out of downtown and make it to
Washtenaw Ave like we knew where we were going and were able to do some shopping before spending Valentine's Day evening with the Amandas, having take out pizza and wings, and a hard fought game of Cards Against Humanity where somehow John cheated (I'm pretty sure) and won.
Yay, the Berlin Painter!
ReplyDeleteAnd so great that John took a picture of the performance piece. Perfect.
