karting and shopping

Friday is our traditional shopping excursion to the outlet malls
down the road, but John doesn’t come this time because the Bean is asleep and needs a nap.  So, the rest of us pile in to find what deals we can in after holiday shopping, besides a few pajamas for the Bean when he grows some, nothing really
worth writing home about.  We did stop at Pottery Barn because their Christmas stuff resells well apparently and I can see why.  There was a cute little garland of mittens that had the countdown to Christmas on them, I liked it enough to actually look at the price tag
and we all told the kids that the one that they had found was not the real one because we couldn’t imagine a garland of mittens would be priced at $100.  But it was so people.  And this place was packed with yuppie, hipster, whatever we call them these days types who
had to have all of their stuff from this overpriced store.  I’m sorry if you’re a pottery barn fan, but good lord, there are people starving out there and people are spending this much money on stupid decorative stuff?  I’m a fan of retail therapy, but it has to be cheap
and a deal to count, if you’re going to go lay down a ton of money for everything, where’s the fun in searching for a deal?  Enough, John and the Bean were up and meeting us for lunch at Zaxby’s which was closed and then chick-fil-a which is a better meal anyway.
I have to say that this is a company that I don’t agree with, but will still eat at regardless of their morals that are lacking…I’m weak people.  We came home and played like we usually do at Kevin’s, the boys downstairs playing ping pong or outside with the kids playing foursquare and Lori and I playing board games or watching things with the kids when they deign to spend time with us.  On Sunday, we did step out of our comfort zone and go to a new karting place in Dawsonville so that John could get his racing on.  This place was huge and outdoor which was intimidating because you had to be checked in signing waivers and everyone had to get bands on that we had waived our rights to sue if we died.  Even the Bean had a little one on his ankle and you had to drive past the big track for cars to get to the karting track.  John was able to sign up, watch a little bit of the track, get his safety talk and get into a pretty fast kart.  He liked the elevation changes, but otherwise it wasn’t worth the money that they charged.  He did win his heat which is all that mattered to him….
