karting, an even better brunch and DIA again

I got to ride with Paul and Rachel while John had Oscar and Dave in the other car and of all things, John wanted steak for dinner.  We have just purchased a huge side of angus beef from a coworker and the last thing that man should want is more beef to eat, but I decide to take the anger and call a halt at  Steak and Shake.  John’s not happy, but it gives us time to find out that there is a Red Robin and burgers near here, so
we head there.  Oscar was apparently good for them at the auto show and continues to be mainly good throughout dinner.  We head over for karting so the guys can get their fix and find out about an endurance race in Feb that they
want to get a team together for.  Oscar is mesmerized by the karts and very angry that he can’t ride in one yet.  And it looks like it will be several more years before he even gets close to one…. We check into our swanky hotel (Marriott Auburn Hills is one of the nicest stays we’ve had in a
while since we mainly budget travel) although the drive was harrowing because the mist has descended and it’s Stephen King type mist people.  The  kind that lingers and you wonder when it will dissipate.  In fact, we’re high up in the hotel and you can’t see the ground the next morning.  Oscar wakes
up and has to show doggie the view out the window, which is beyond precious.  We spend some time running up and down the halls and hit a great café for brunch again.  I’m thinking drinking is required since they have a pear juice bellini that is begging to be tried.   Café Muse in Royal Oak is one of those places
where you try to make sure that everyone, and I do mean everyone, is ordering something different so that you can try everything that sounds so delicious on the menu.  Even Oscar’s muffin that he disdained got eaten up by others at the table because the kid has no taste yet.  The
scallop scramble that Paul got was the winner in my mind and I never thought about scallops in my breakfast food, but I’m going to now….The parking meters in Royal Oak were adorable and except for Oscar stepping in dog poop while playing around outside because he needed to leave the restaurant, a good morning.  I just have to say that it is damn
near impossible to get dog poop out of the tiny treads that are tiny people shoes.  Also, his feet are in the air and kicking the back of the seats in the car, so, he got to go shoeless the rest of the day and Darth Vader shoes have remained unused for some time in the trunk of the car.   We got to go back to the DIA and Oscar and I spent the majority of the time in a concert in the medieval cloister again so that John could actually see something before we had to leave.  I’m sad to say that art museums are still not on Oscar’s list of favorite things.
