Radio Beach, Bimini, Bahamas

We decide to make a whole family day to North Bimini with the

last of our money and hope that the boys make it to the ATM and it works.  We walk to the ferry because it’s not that far and catch the ferry.  The boys get a taxi at the ferry stop and we tell them we’ll be at Radio Beach.  We hit the straw market, but don’t have money to buy anything anyway and plan to hit it on the way back to the ferry.  It’s not as bustling as most ports that you see in the Caribbean and we head over to the beach where they’re renting chairs
for you to sit on.  I head down a ways and plunk my towel down far enough away where we are not in the next guys’ territory, but I’m not paying for a chair on a public beach.  We do buy plenty of alcohol and food from this guy and the guys are successful at the ATM.   Oscar doesn’t want to play in the water, so I give him my empty beer bottle for ferrying

water to his sand castle and part of a car bumper for digging in the sand.  Great parenting again.  Thank god there is no CPS when we’re on vacation!!!  But the kids are having fun burying each other, making mermaids, digging and swimming and this is the most beautiful water I’ve ever swam in.  The Caribbean has points in the water where it looks like it is an electric blue and we were able to swim out to this part at this beach.  And it is the most beautiful water in the world.  You feel like you’re swimming in pure light.  All 8 of us were caught up in how beautiful it was.  We were
also getting hungry after several hours here and Dave was sent to get conch from a guy that we had passed in the taxi the first day.  He was gone forever and was not very happy when he got back because of how long it took, how he got passed over for other people wanting some, but he got some wings from the guy on the beach to make it and things were good again.  After hours in the sun and several beverages, the wings and pasta salad that this guy on the beach was handing out was like manna.  But we hike to the Bimini Big Game Club where we can eat on their deck overlooking the marina and have delicious conch fritters.  The kids
are allowed to get nonalcoholic daiquiris and again, the food is amazing.  Probably a combination of sun, alcohol, days of cooking and cleaning after ourselves made everything better.  We finally head back to the South island and home to just

   relax in the condo.
